Dynamo Dresden has signed a new player for the defense: Simon Straudi is moving from Energie Cottbus to the SGD. The 27-year-old Italian will undergo a medical check next week and then sign a two-year contract until 2028. Straudi has not played a single second-tier game in Germany, but he has an interesting background. He moved from FC Südtirol to Werder Bremen in the U19 and developed excellently there. His market value is 350,000 euros. Dresden gets him for free because his one-year contract in Cottbus has expired. SGD sports director Sören Gonther is still working on a permanent signing of Jonas Sterner, who is still under contract with Hannover. Straudi is supposed to serve as a backup for Sterner and is willing to accept this role. The defender can not only play on the right, but also on the left and is known for his ability to completely close the defensive side. In the promotion to the second league, Straudi fought his way into the starting lineup and was in the starting lineup 13 times in the last 14 games. Straudi therefore brings an interesting overall package and will probably be needed more. Other goals are in the foreground, but Straudi is willing to get involved. His experience and versatility will certainly help the SGD. So Straudi will become part of the team and will hopefully become an important player for Dynamo Dresden. The Italian will try to prove his skills and support the SGD in their goal. But it remains to be seen how Straudi will perform in the new season. His chances are good, but it will certainly be a challenge.
