Dynamo Dresden is experiencing a stable summer thanks to the new management axis with Sören Gonther and Stephan Zimmermann. For the first time since the departure of Sports Managing Director Ralf Minge in 2020, the traditional club seems to be on its way to finding internal peace. The decisive factor for this change is primarily an axis in the sports department, which Gonther forms with the supervisory board members Michael Born and Jan Seifert. Born brought Gonther to Paderborn in 2007 as a professional, during his playing time at Dynamo, Born was finance manager and Seifert was head of youth development. These connections are important because they guarantee a basis of trust, on which Gonther and his managing director colleague Stephan Zimmermann can develop the club together with coach Thomas Stamm in a more sustainable way. The Swiss head coach recently made a profound statement about the start of the winter preparations, shortly after Gonther arrived. Stamm said: „In this phase, you could see for the first time, since I've been here, that everything is going in the same direction and not paddling somewhere else. I'll take that into account for the promotion year as well.“ New supervisory board member Born recently said about the new sports director: „I've known Sören Gonther for almost 20 years now. It's clear that you have a completely different exchange with someone you've known for a long time, compared to someone you've only known for a few days. You discuss a lot, but he has to make the decisions. I can give hints, but I'm out of the operational business.“ More direct exchange, shorter decision-making paths, less vanity! President Ronny Rehn and the youth council were involved in the appointment of Gonther, which shows that the various club organs all have a share in the fact that a possibly more stable axis could be built. The task for the future will be to find a sensible position for Stefan Kutschke, as has already been done for Niklas Kreuzer, who has been working in scouting for half a year. This way, Dynamo can gradually integrate young professionals with club identity, without putting too much responsibility on them too early.
