The Magdeburg Public Prosecutor's Office has filed charges of attempted murder. A 29-year-old German man must answer to the charges at the Magdeburg District Court. The accused is sufficiently suspected of attempted murder. In addition, he is accused of particularly serious breach of the peace, dangerous bodily harm, and assault on law enforcement officers in a particularly serious case. The suspect was arrested on January 28 and is still in pre-trial detention. In the indictment, the 29-year-old is accused of participating in the disturbances against police officers at the FCM-Dresden duel in the Avnet Arena on January 24, 2026. He allegedly threw a 15-kilogram concrete block with full force and from close range at the police officers in the police cordon. The stone hit a police officer in the head. The weight and size of the stone and the short throwing distance lead the public prosecutor's office to the conviction that the accused at least recklessly accepted a fatal injury. The 1. FC Magdeburg was punished with a partial ban on fans after the violent disturbances, in which more than 70 police officers were injured. In addition, the second-division club had to pay a fine of a total of 186,600 euros.
